Prosthodontists are trained specialists in optimising oral health through improved function, comfort and aesthetics. This is done through excellent care of the teeth along with providing restorations to perfect or replace missing teeth where required.
Some treatments prosthodontists provide include:
- Veneers
- Bridges and Crowns
- Implant restoration (fixed and removable)
- Aesthetic fillings
- Dentures (partial and full)
- Anti-snoring devices
Veneers
Veneers are thin layers of porcelain that are built to fit on the front surface of the tooth precisely. They obtain their strength through being bonded to the tooth so the tooth-veneer entity functions together. Veneers can provide an immediate solution for teeth that need an improvement in appearance. The can be used to treat teeth that are crooked, discoloured, broken down or of poor shape.

Bridges and Crowns
Crowns are made to usually cover the remaining visible structure of a tooth. They are indicated for the same reasons as veneers but are used where the remaining tooth structure is compromised to help reinforce the tooth. A bridge can replace missing teeth where a crown is placed either side of the missing tooth.

Implant Restorations
A dental implant is a tooth root replacement. Implants can be use to replace a single tooth especially where the remaining teeth are in good condition. Multiple implants can replace many or even all the teeth. These restorations may be fixed (you cannot take out) or removable (you can take out) and the choice of restoration will depend on your situation. There are many types and manufacturers of implants and only the best implants with a proven track record are used in this practice. Below are some examples of implant restorations.

Aesthetic Fillings
Unsightly metal fillings can often be replaced with ceramic to provide ideal aesthetics. These restorations last well but their correct use is essential.

Dentures
Dentures are restorations that are removable. They can replace some or all of the teeth. With modern techniques they can be made fit ideally and to look absolutely genuine. Implants can also be used with these restorations to provide a more comfortable well-retained denture.

Anti-Snoring Devices
These appliances can improve patients, and their partner’s, sleep by reducing snoring and improving breathing while sleeping. They work by helping position the lower jaw forward which often reduces snoring.
