A Paediatric Dentist has a general dental degree just like your family dentist. In addition to this a
paediatric dentist has an extra 3 years of specialist training making them experts in the field of
children’s dentistry. A Paediatric Dentist exclusively treats children from birth to 16 years of age.
They provide preventative oral care and comprehensive dental treatment for infants and children
through to adolescences. 

We aim to safeguard the oral health of your child by advising on the most up to date preventative techniques available. Prevention is better than cure and our goal is to prevent the need for dental treatment. We aim to educate parents and children on the most appropriate methods of home care in orderto minimise the risk of dental disease.When dental treatment is needed we provide high quality, durable treatment using a gentle approach.We aim to assist anxious children to become comfortable with dental treatment and become aconfident adult dental patient. In cases of extensive treatment need or very anxious children we aim to provide a sedation and general anaesthetic service.

What should I expect at the first dental visit?

At your first dental visit with us we aim to get to know your child and ensure a happy first dentalexperience. We will carry out a full dental assessment with x-rays if indicated. We will discuss thefindings and treatment options available. We also will explain in an age appropriate manner whatwill occur at the next dental visit.
